Recently, a team of scientists from China, the United States, Australia, and Canada jointly announced that the remains of ancient snakes were first discovered in an amber. It is most likely a small snake from 99 million years ago.
This small snake, which is less than 10 centimeters, has a great research value despite its small size. We all know that the skeleton of the snake is very fragile, so when the snake dies, it is often difficult to find its complete body, let alone the snake fossil. However, this small snake in the amber is preserved very intact, not only leaving a complete snake bone, but even the snake skin is well preserved.
At first, because the body was very small, scientists also mistakenly thought it was a fossil of lizards, but after CT scanning technology and model reduction, it found that it has all the characteristics of snakes.
Scientists speculate that this snake may be a newborn snake baby who was accidentally stored in the resin that had just dripped when going out for food.
