Whether you are buying a moissanite or a diamond, you need to refer to the 4Cs, which are the yardstick to measure the value and quality of the stone. So what are the 4Cs?
The 4C's are the international standards established by the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) for the evaluation of moissanite diamonds, both domestic and foreign, and are graded according to the 4C's. The 4C's include Carat, Colour, Clarity and Cut. Each of these "C's" has its own grading criteria from the top to the bottom, and the higher the overall grade, the more expensive the moissanite diamond ring will be.
Regarding the selection strategy of the 4Cs of moissanite diamond rings, it is recommended to give priority to weight, followed by cut > color > clarity.
1. Weight
When selecting a moissanite, you will definitely consider its weight. Moissanite is calculated in carats, the larger the carat, the higher the price. 1 carat = 200 mg = 0.2 g, 1 carat = 100 points, 1 point = 0.01 carat. Pick the carat size and decide to buy according to your budget.
2. Cutting
Round moissanite diamond 3EX level is preferred, good cut will make moissanite diamond ring looks brighter and more sparkling, so the cut must not be skimped, the minimum should reach VERY GOOD (very good) level, of course, or the best 3EX.
3. Color
We all know that the color grade of diamonds is the highest with colorless, and so is moissanite. The more transparent the color, the more beautiful the fire refraction after light penetration. Moissanite color is divided into D-E-F colorless, G-H-I-J near colorless, K-L-M yellowish, N-O-P-Q-R yellow, S-T-U-V-W-X yellow grade, the highest grade of moissanite is designated as D (Diamond's initials) grade, the more letters back, the more moissanite color tends to yellow, which means the lower the color grade. When buying, D grade moissanite is the preferred choice, and the only moissanite that can reach D color is the Belgian magic star diamond.
4. Purity
Moissanite clarity standards are divided into I1/I2/I3, SI1/SI2, VVS1VVS2, IF, FL grades. The purer the good moissanite is, the better the quality. When actually wearing moissanite jewelry, it is best to pick a quality moissanite that is flawless and free of cutting defects (VVS1/VVS2 grade).
