A New 245ct Rough Diamond Found in The Letšeng Mine, Kingdom Of Lesotho

British diamond miner Gem Diamonds announced the discovery of a new 245ct gem-quality rough diamond at the Letšeng diamond mine in the Kingdom of Lesotho on June 11.
The newly discovered 245ct diamond is a high-quality Type IIa diamond with excellent whiteness and clarity. The natural triangular growth pattern of the diamond crystal can be clearly seen on the surface.
The Letšeng mine in the Kingdom of Lesotho has uncovered several large-carat gem-quality rough diamonds this year. This 245ct gem-quality rough diamond is the third rough diamond over 100ct found in the mining area in the past month. The previous two weighed 129ct and 125ct respectively.

The Letšeng mining area is located in the northern part of the Kingdom of Lesotho, with an average altitude of 3,100 meters. It is the world's highest diamond mine and the world's highest price per carat kimberlite diamond mine. In 2006, Gem Diamonds acquired 70% of the shares of the mining area. So far, 60 rough gem-quality diamonds of more than 100ct have been mined, 5 of which are among the 20 largest rough diamonds in the world.
