We have listed the uses of silicon carbide ceramics for everyone, and many customers are curious: what process is this manufactured through? It can be used in so many fields. Below, we will introduce the reaction sintering principle of silicon carbide ceramics.
Reaction bonded silicon carbide refers to the process in which silicon carbide and carbon powder are contained in the billet. During the reaction, the carbon and silicon react to form a new silicon carbide phase that combines with the original silicon carbide, forming a silicon carbide composite material. The preparation process is as follows: the silicon carbide powder, carbon powder, and organic binder are mixed, and then formed through overmolding, drying, debonding, and finally silicon infiltration. The density of this sintered silicon carbide can reach 3.08, which has good wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and is very popular in the market. Reactive sintering of silicon carbide, also known as activated sintering or enhanced sintering. More rigorously, activated sintering and strengthened sintering are different.
Activation sintering refers to a sintering method that can reduce the activation energy of sintering, enable the sintering of the system to proceed at a faster speed at lower temperatures, and improve the performance of the sintered body. Enhanced sintering generally refers to all sintering processes that can increase the sintering rate or enhance the performance of sintered materials (through alloying or inhibiting grain growth).

Silicon carbide ceramics are high-performance, high-temperature, and wear-resistant ceramic materials widely used in fields such as high temperature, high pressure, and corrosion resistance. Its unique performance and application value have received widespread attention and attention.
The preparation method of silicon carbide ceramics is to tightly combine silicon carbide particles through chemical vapor deposition (CVD), hot pressing, and other methods to form a ceramic material with high density and hardness. The process mainly includes the following steps:
1. Gas phase reaction: Gas containing carbon and silicon is introduced into the reaction chamber and undergoes a chemical reaction in a high-temperature environment to generate silicon carbide particles.
2. Deposition process: Silicon carbide particles deposit on the substrate, forming a gradually increasing thickness ceramic layer.
3. Sintering process: By hot pressing, heat treatment, and other methods, silicon carbide particles are tightly combined to form a ceramic material with high density and hardness.
Silicon carbide ceramics have excellent heat resistance, wear resistance, oxidation resistance, and other characteristics. They can exert their unique advantages when used under harsh conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, and strong corrosion. Therefore, silicon carbide ceramics have wide applications in fields such as power, petrochemical, aerospace, and so on.
