1. Moissanite is not as hard as diamond, but more dazzling
The composition of the Moissanite is silicon carbide, it was first found in the crater, later through the laboratory simulation of its growth environment, the artificial synthesis of high-quality Moissanite stone. Diamonds have a mohs hardness of 10, whereas Moissanite has a mohs hardness of 9. In terms of hardness, moissanite is inferior to diamonds. But MOISSANITE has a very high refractive index, a very high birefringence, and a dispersion more than twice that of a diamond, which makes moissanite a very fiery place, and very bright in dim light.
Through GIA appraisal, Moissanite and diamond with similar physical and optical properties, fire dispersion is better than diamonds, known abroad as the most shining gemstone. As a "second-hardest, first-shiniest" Gem, MOISSANITE's price is only a tenth of that of a diamond, and for consumers, moissanite is the perfect "replacement" for a diamond.
2. Moissanite is not a knockoff
Because of the very similar nature of the diamonds and the low price, some merchants will sell Moissanite as a diamond, leading many people to mistake the Moissanite stone for a diamond knockoff. But that's wrong. MOISSANITE is an independent synthetic gem that has its own value.
In fact, the Moissanite stone purchase conditions are also subject to 4C STANDARD.
1. Weight: because moissanite has a smaller specific gravity than a diamond, the equivalent weight of Moissanite is larger than a diamond
2. Cut: whether it's a diamond or a Moissanite, a good cut can sometimes really work. Good cutting make it more dazzling.
3. Color: moissanite will have more or less yellow color, so it's difficult to synthesize D color moissanite. In the purchase, to choose D, E, F level of Moissanite (that is to pick white) .
4. Clarity: although moissanite grows in the laboratory, the conditions are relatively easy to control, and it is not easy to have impurities and scratches, but due to the lack of technology, it is always inevitable. When selecting Moissanite, whether it is a small flaw on the surface or some impurities in the inner package, it should be avoided.
